Features
- Privacy: The app does not collect or transmit any user data.
- Text recognition: Based on Apple’s Vision framework.
- Batch Processing: Processes large volumes of documents. Supports PDF files as well as all common image formats (JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and HEIC/HEIF).
- Folder Monitoring (Hotfolder): Monitors a selected folder and automatically processes newly added documents in the background. Folder monitoring works independently of the main app: The app does not need to be open, and monitoring continues automatically even after a restart. The smart filter and scan optimization can also be applied during this process.
- Language Support: Recognizes printed text (not handwriting) in 13 languages: German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Turkish, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese (traditional and simplified), Japanese (Yokogaki), Korean, and Vietnamese.
- User Interface: The app can be used in 14 languages: German, English, French, Spanish (Spain and Mexico), Italian, Dutch, Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil), Russian, Arabic, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Japanese, Korean, Turkish, and Vietnamese.
- Automatic Orientation: Analyzes the text direction and rotates incorrectly oriented pages, such as book pages that were scanned landscape due to space constraints.
Additional Features
- Apple Shortcuts integration: Provides actions for the macOS Shortcuts app. This allows you to create custom workflows and run tasks without having the main window open.
- Finder Integration: Processes files directly from the Finder via the Services menu (right-click on a file → Services → “Apply OnDevice OCR”)—even when the app is closed.
- Smart Filter: Checks whether a PDF already contains a searchable text layer, as is often the case with digitally generated invoices, and skips the file if desired.
- Merge Files: Combines multiple processed scans, PDFs, or images into a single PDF file.
- Text Extraction: Saves the recognized text as a TXT file, for example, for further processing of the content of longer documents or books.
- Scan Optimization: Adjusts brightness, contrast, and sharpness, and reduces shadows.
- Perspective Correction: Detects the document edges, corrects the perspective, and crops the result to the document. This removes the surrounding background, such as a tabletop.
