Terms of Service
Last updated: August 4, 2026
1. Who we are
These terms govern the use of the website ondeviceocr.com and the software OnDevice OCR Pro (“the App”), provided by Christian Schröder, Marktstr. 242, 47798 Krefeld, Germany (“we”, “us”). Contact: [email protected].
2. The App
OnDevice OCR Pro is a macOS application that performs optical character recognition (OCR) locally on your Mac. The App processes your documents entirely on your device; we do not receive, store, or have access to your files.
3. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the App on Macs that you own or control, in accordance with these terms and — for purchases made through the Mac App Store — Apple’s standard licensed application end user license agreement and the App Store terms.
You may not reverse engineer, decompile, resell, or redistribute the App except where permitted by applicable law.
4. Purchases
The App is free to download and try. The full version is unlocked with a one-time purchase. Purchases made through the Mac App Store are processed by Apple under Apple’s terms. Purchases made through our website are processed by our merchant of record, Paddle.com Market Ltd (“Paddle”), which handles payment and applicable taxes. Current prices are listed on our pricing page. Refunds are handled as described in our Refund Policy.
5. Your content and responsibility
You retain all rights to the documents you process with the App. You are responsible for ensuring that you are entitled to process the documents you use with the App and for complying with laws applicable to your use, including data protection laws.
6. Accuracy of results
OCR is a statistical process. While the App aims for high accuracy, recognition results may contain errors. You should verify results before relying on them, especially for legal, medical, or financial documents.
7. Warranty and liability
The App is provided with the care of a reasonable software developer. To the extent permitted by law, we are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, and for injury to life, body, or health. For slight negligence we are liable only for breaches of essential contractual obligations, limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract. Mandatory statutory liability (including under the German Product Liability Act) remains unaffected.
8. Website
The content of this website is provided for information purposes. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the website at any time.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page applies. Material changes will be indicated by an updated date at the top of this page.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
